Key Responsibilities
- Execute, interpret, and document analytical experiments for biopharmaceutical process development samples in line with internal quality standards and HSE requirements, including investigating unexpected results through troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Operate and program automated liquid handling systems, such as Tecan or Hamilton, and operate analytical instruments, such as HPLC or LC-MS
- Program and maintain automated analytical workflows and digital data processes.
- Implement and optimize digital processes in daily laboratory work, apply digital tools and automation solutions to improve lab efficiency
- Independently support the implementation and handover of analytical methods for innovative late-phase products
- Drive process improvements by identifying opportunities to optimize and continuously enhancing the efficiency, robustness, and scalability of automated workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as method experts and/or project analytical experts to ensure smooth execution of analytical workflows
- Share know-how across the organization and with other departments by providing on-site training to associates
- Contribute to a highly innovative and motivated team with flat hierarchies, using strong networking skills to collaborate across boundaries
- Bring forward ideas and improvement proposals, stay curious, think boldly, and inspire others
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Master of Science with at least 1 year of relevant experience, Bachelor of Science with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or an industry apprenticeship or equivalent technical education with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Solid understanding of analytical method principles, e.g. separation techniques such as (U)HPLC or determination of physico-chemical properties with practical experience using analytical instrumentation.
- Strong interest in digital approaches and innovative technologies and experience with laboratory automation solutions, e.g. robotic liquid handling systems.
- Flexible, pragmatic, and goal-oriented working style, combined with a scientific mindset.
- Fluency in English for effective collaboration and documentation; German is beneficial.
Desirable Requirements
- Can-do mindset, adaptability to change, and strong communication skills across organizational interfaces.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment.
- Experience with laboratory data management systems, such as LIMS applications, and digital processes.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of both separation and non-separation methods to determine quality attributes of biological drugs.
- Programming skills in Python, R, C, C++, C#, and MS Visual Basic to support digital processes and interfaces.

In addition to a market-competitive base salary, we offer an attractive incentive program, a modern company pension scheme, childcare facilities, learning and development opportunities as well as worldwide career possibilities within the Novartis group. In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is €60,978.00 (on a full-time basis).
We also offer a potential market oriented excess payment in line with your experience and qualifications.
Auf Grund der gesetzlichen Vorgaben in Österreich sind wir dazu verpflichtet, das für diese Position vorgeschriebene kollektivvertragliche Mindestgehalt in Höhe von €60,978.00/Jahr (auf Vollzeitbasis) anzugeben.
