About the Role
This position can be based in Barcelona, Spain or London, United Kingdom.

Work pattern in both locations: Hybrid (12 days per month in the office)
Major accountabilities:
- Define Novartis standards and drive the development of internal and external policies, guidelines and procedures according to applicable laws and regulations for areas in scope of the EO&G, e.g. local interventional studies, non-interventional studies, patient support programs, managed access programs, investigator initiated trials, grants or research collaborations
- Ensure the correct implementation of these standards at country organizations and global functions across Novartis; provide central oversight at the GMA and Development level
- Develop and deliver training for associates and management to ensure adherence to standards; foster a culture of collaboration by providing a range of education and learning opportunities, i.e. forums, summits, or regular meetings with customers
- Proactively identify quality and compliance risks for Novartis related to assigned areas and establish mechanisms to mitigate these risks
- Drive change management and promote a culture of quality, compliance and patient centricity; identify opportunities for global/local alignment and facilitate ownership of governance at country organizations
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels with teams and senior leaders at Novartis; present to Novartis Management (e.g. the GMA, Development, the Portfolio Stewardship Board, local Executive Teams, etc.);
- Support country organizations to set-up and execute appropriate corrective and preventive actions plans in case of major audit or inspection findings.
Key performance indicators:
- Global governance standards are maintained; potential risks are identified and mitigated for assigned areas; continuous improvement is ensured for own processes, products, and services
- Health Authority inspections and internal audits have no critical findings in assigned areas due to lack of global governance
Minimum Requirements:
Work Experience:
- Significant relevant work experience (> 10 years) in the pharmaceutical industry or public health sector, in the area of medical affairs / medical practice, drug development, patient safety or compliance
- Excellent knowledge across different, relevant governance areas
- Proven track record in leading large matrix teams in global organizations and in driving project teams for superior results
- High awareness of trends and ability to proactively address needs based on external demands
- Excellence in designing and continuously improving business processes to meet quality and compliance standards and to simplify the way we work
- Proven ability to build strong and effective relationships with internal and external customers
- Change management skills to sustain a cultural of high ethical standards and compliance
Skills:
- Exemplary interpersonal skills demonstrating the Novartis values for collaboration, quality and integrity; ability to bridge between scientific and business experts
- Ability to facilitate and influence decision making with senior leaders

Education and Languages :
- Master’s degree in science
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Pharm D. is a plus
- Excellent English language skills
