Position is on-site in East Hanover, NJ #LI-Onsite Internal Posting Title: Technician, Science & Technology About the role: Bench to bedside! This exciting role serves as technician supporting the innovative arena of analytical development for our CAR-T cell therapy products. The successful candidate will work with and be a part of a talented and experienced team in our Technical Research and Development organization at East Hanover, NJ. The candidate will be responsible for the coordination and execution of lab support and lab management activities to enable the team to operate effectively and efficiently. They will interface regularly and build relationships with each team member and other functions to drive success of the activities and projects while maintaining the highest quality and integrity standards. This individual will uphold Novartis Values & Beliefs and Code of Ethics to successfully support our bold mission of delivering effective CAR-T cell products for patients in need. Under general direction, the Technician, Science & Technology will perform supporting and administrative activities supporting the Raw Materials, BioAnalytics, Microbiology, and Validation group in the Analytical Operations department of TRD CGT East Hanover.

About the Role

Your Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • **Shift position** The shift is Monday-Thursday from 9am-7pm. Weekend work may be assigned as needed. Shift will be fixed according to business need.
  • Manage reagent and consumable inventory for assigned areas of responsibilities.
  • Manage restocking PPE and other required materials in designated areas.
  • Manage shipment of samples in and out of the site.
  • Prepare common reagents and buffers required for testing.
  • Performs inspections and testing of raw materials.
  • Bulk gas receipt and testing.
  • Monthly review of laboratory logbooks and monthly laboratory and equipment cleaning.
  • Ensures cleanliness of laboratory working areas.
  • Perform all testing and activities compliantly following appropriate SOPs and procedures.
  • Document results within electronic and paper-based systems accordingly.
  • Peer review and archive analytical data in lab documentation systems.  
  • Complies with GxP policies and procedures in a consistent and compliant manner.
  • Ensures all assigned training is completed within required time frame.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
  • Support 5S and Lean projects.
  • Plan and schedule activities.
  • Problem solves and escalate issues to laboratory management in a timely manner.
  • Review work and identify non-standard format or wording, and errors within documents.

Role Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in cell biology, immunology, biology, virology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology or other related science.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline may be considered in lieu of industry experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the pharmaceutical, biologics, microbiology, sterile manufacture, or medical device industry with an Associate’s degree.
  •  Knowledge of appropriate GMP/GLP concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and communicate errors in analytical execution.
  • Ensure customer (internal and external) satisfaction and react to customer (internal and external) requests.

Desired Requirements:

  • Experience in a QC laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Understanding of bioassay test methods (Elisa, Flow cytometry, qPCR, cell culture).
  • Experience in the use of computer-based systems and applications (i.e., ESOPs, 1QEM, LIMS, etc.).

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $57,000-$85,600/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period.  Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
