Summary

LI #onsite Position is located in East Hanover, NJ Bench to bedside! Our autologous CAR-T therapies are being developed as transformative treatments with life-saving potential for various oncology and auto-immune indications. We look to be bold with purpose, as we reimagine medicine and lead the way in advancing scientific breakthroughs for patients. The Expert Science & Technology, Analytical Platform Development will be a major contributor to pipeline development and implementation of novel analytical platforms for our Cell and Gene Therapy products. This exciting role within Technical Development interfaces with multiple functions across the organization, including development teams in Research, Quality Control and Technical Operations. The successful candidate will contribute to technical and development projects as well as interdisciplinary work across the broader Cell and Gene Therapy organization. He / She should have technical knowledge and hands-on experience in analytical technologies, method validation and product characterization. This position requires prior experience in fast-paced laboratories and expertise in cell-based assays.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:


•  Independently design, plan, perform and document cellular characterization, multi-color flow cytometry and potency assays

• Identify opportunities for method improvement and evaluation of new GMP-compliant methodologies for Cell and Gene Therapy products

• Drive project timelines and deliverables while meeting internal quality and data integrity requirements

Implement resolution to technical challenges, support manufacturing investigations, communicate effectively and present complex data at internal and cross-functional meetings

• Ensure maintenance of meticulous records for method execution and laboratory operations in compliance with Quality standards

• Author and/or review method related technical documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, consistency, and clarity

• Work according to appropriate guiding SOPs, Novartis Guidelines and Code of Conduct


Essential Requirements:

• BA/BS or MS in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or other related discipline plus 5+ years (BA/BS), 2+ years (MS) or +1 years (PhD) of prior experience

• Experience in analytical method development, cell-based and multi-color flow cytometry assays

• Expertise with aseptic mammalian cell culture and cell banking

• Excellent communication, organization skills and cross-functional collaboration. Solid presentation and scientific/technical writing skills.

• Detail-oriented and multi-tasking with expertise in problem solving

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment and quickly acquire new technical skills and knowledge

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience writing laboratory SOPs and technical instructions

• Prior experience with tech transfer and/or validation of analytical methods, single-cell assays, and cell sorting

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $102,400-$153,600/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period.  Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
