The Role This role offers hybrid working, requiring 3 days per week in the office. The Global Program Management Office (GPMO) Associate Director plays a key role in supporting Global Program Managers (GPMs) in their day-to-day tasks and enhancing the capabilities of the project management tools for all GPM associates. The Associate Director will also be responsible for training and onboarding new GPM associates on process, systems, and best practices, while supporting GPM strategic initiatives.

About the Role

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support to GPMs in executing their program management duties.
  • Train and onboard new GPM associates on Horizon, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively utilize the system, in collaboration with Horizon CoE.
  • Ensure data quality in Horizon and management reports and collaborate with GPMs to identify areas for improvement in the Horizon system and develop strategies to strengthen its capabilities.
  • Provide customized reports, tools and templates to all GPM associates and GPM DU Leads.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on program management methodologies, best practices and tools, collaborate with GPMs to strengthen project management skills, and provide guidance and support to GPMs as needed.
  • Support GPM strategic initiatives e.g., on automation and use of AI.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the GPMO team, organizing training sessions and workshops to enhance program management skills.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and coordination in program delivery.
  • Assist in monitoring program performance and identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations and implementing appropriate changes.

Your experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (or MBA with bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in life science)
  • Pharma industry experience
  • Multi-/cross functional team experience
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively support and collaborate with Global Program Managers.
  • Solid understanding of program management methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience with the Horizon system or similar program management tools is highly desirable.
  • Intermediate knowledge in drug development process
  • Ability to train and onboard new associates effectively, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Well organized, focused on results, capable of managing multiple projects, excellent time management skills with respect to priorities and self-management

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $151,200 to $226,800; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
