Summary

Lead the development and implementation of medical society engagement plan for priority assets/disease areas and corresponding key congresses in alignment with Therapeutic Areas, including supporting external engagement strategy and execution.

About the Role

Major Accountabilities:

  • 1. Serve as medical society engagement liaison for key international medical societies aligned with Therapeutic Areas to build and expand strategic engagements for collaborations
  • 2.    Develop a deep understanding of the mission and vision of key international medical societies and communicate plans and priorities of societies to support Therapeutic Area strategy
  • 3.    Partner with Therapeutic Areas, CE&E and Scientific Communications to develop innovative strategies and solutions to enhance scientific engagement and expand the reach of medical education with medical societies
  • 4.    Lead engagement plan development and implementation for key portfolio medical societies in partnership with Therapeutic Areas and other stakeholders, including senior leader congress engagement planning
  • 5.    Co-lead and partner with Therapeutic Areas, Scientific Communications, and other stakeholders to develop and execute congress plan, including congress narrative for key international medical societies. 
  • 6.    Support development of framework and guidance in partnership with Therapeutic Areas for medical society engagement plan for disease specific medical societies
  • 7.    Support innovation, best practice sharing, pilot testing, and impact measurement to adapt and evolve medical society engagement and congress planning 
  • 8.    Ensure collaboration with legal/compliance to assess opportunities for collaborations to drive partnerships with key medical society partners

Must have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry or healthcare related, ideally in medical affairs and/or medical information
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD) or equivalent education/degree in life science/healthcare is preferred
  • Proven experience in the Medical Affairs or Medical society and congress engagement and demonstrated innovative approaches
  • Understanding of the role of medical societies with deep understanding of industry sponsored and external medical education programs
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of internal/external ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strategic mindset including innovation and critical thinking with performance-oriented drive. 
  • Experience working in a matrix environment, across functions, therapeutic areas, regions, and countries
