About the role: Business Planning & Analysis (BPA) Finance support for the global Real Estate and Facility Services (REFS) domain. Specifically for the financial support for Capital Planning and Projects. Includes support for the CAR preparation, business case for CAPEX/OPEX requests, analyze project feasibility, NPV/IRR analysis of projects. Drives various financial analysis around the Lease transactions including sale and leaseback, support planning and budgeting (Budget, outlook, risk & ops etc.) and analysis of results for REFS in close collaboration with the Head BPA REFS.

About the Role

Key Requirements:

  • Business Partnering: Partners effectively on different dimensions (local, global, within Novartis Operations and external)
  • Ensures business partners understand the financial processes and follow internal guidelines/SOPs. Drives cost transparency and ensure good understanding of key cost drivers
  • Evaluate and support key initiatives by thoroughly understanding the business. Propose and work in/lead projects to provide due cost transparency. Generates various ad hoc / regular financial analysis to support business / decisions
  • Planning & Reporting- Prepare business cases, Capital Appropriation Request for various CAPEX projects, Lease of office/laboratories including sale and leaseback, collaborate with FRA for various Lease Accounting matters, prepare annual budget for CAPEX and support monthly risk & ops
  • Support the review of the business cases and respond to the various queries to senior management. Partner with Novartis Operations Regional Finance Leads and country BPAs to build stretch financial objectives
  • Support FRA on various accounting matters including lease accounting, capillarization and impairment of assets. Deploy, in collaboration with Global BPA a robust planning process for REFS
  • Responsible for business presentations (e.g. Budget) required by Novartis Operations / REFS. Challenge and investigate results with the objective of identifying gaps recommending gap closing actions when necessary
  • Reporting and Controls- Leverage and further enhance central reporting tools to provide management reporting. Ensure quality and timely month end closing (e.g. accruals). Track and monitor projects and their financials, closure of CARs, capitalization of assets

Essential Requirements:

  • Identifies cost savings and productivity initiatives
  • Supports the offshoring/outsourcing strategy and works closely with sourcing function to maximise productivity. Automate and streamline reporting, CAR process
  • Ensure overall compliance and correct application of Management Authorization Limits (MAL)
  • Ensures good accounting and practices in line with Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM)
  • Applies standard accounting concepts and techniques

  • 8-12 years of experience
