We seek an enthusiastic, highly motivated, results-oriented Research Scientist II to join the Neuroscience siRNA team. The ideal candidate will be innovative, organized, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment. This individual will execute and support in vivo and ex vivo studies to support oligonucleotide delivery programs.

About the Role

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and troubleshoot in vivo and ex vivo studies for a variety of Neuroscience programs
  • Intracerebroventricular (ICV) and intrathecal (IT) dosing, bleeding and CNS tissue dissection
  • Tissue processing to support RNA and protein assays (Western, qPCR, in situ hybridization assays)
  • Handle many projects simultaneously and prioritize experiments while producing high quality, reliable and reproducible results
  • Data analysis, organization and presentation
  • Maintain up to date, organized and accurate study records including the use of an electronic lab notebook

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in science related field
  • 2+ research experience preferably in the field of neuroscience
  • Experience developing and executing in vivo experiments in rodent models
  • Experience developing and optimizing CNS dosing protocols for neuropharmacology studies, including ICV and IT injections
  • Expertise in small animal surgical techniques (stereotaxic surgeries, catheterization)
  • Ability to work well in collaborative, fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of computer software and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism)

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $80,000 - $120,000/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department performance, and market factors.
