Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the number one cause of sight loss in Ireland for those aged over 50 but if you didn't know that you are not alone!
A recent Red C poll found that over half (51%) of the public have heard of wet AMD but only 35% were aware that AMD is the leading cause of sight loss in Ireland for those aged over 50. In fact wet AMD is the leading cause of severe vision loss and legal blindness in people over the age of 65 in Europe.
Anne Doyle launched the 2021 annual AMD Awareness Week, which encourages those who notice any changes in vision to visit an eye care professional and highlights the importance of getting regular eye tests.
