Cardiovascular

Cardiovascular disease (CVD), which includes chronic conditions affecting the heart and blood vessels such as heart failure, heart attacks and strokes, is the world's leading cause of death and one of society's biggest health concerns.

Hematology

Hematology encompasses both malignant cancers and non-malignant disorders of the blood and blood components, such as blood cells and bone marrow cells. There are many different causes of these cancers and disorders, and prognosis can vary significantly among the different illnesses.

Immunology

Immunology covers a broad spectrum of conditions, including chronic skin diseases such as psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa. Autoimmune conditions alone, which form a small part of immunological diseases, affect an estimated 4.5% of the world’s population and their prevalence is increasing.

Neuroscience

Around 2 million people worldwide suffer from multiple sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune disease that is the most common cause of neurological disability unrelated to trauma in people under 40 years of age.

Solid tumors

Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates there will be 50% more new cancer cases in 2040 than there are today. At Novartis, we’re committed to unraveling the inner workings of cancer. We’re developing new therapies for a range of common and rare cancers, investing in diverse technology platforms and experimenting with combination approaches.
