Summary

Location: Basel, Switzerland About the Role: As the Video and Digital Production Team’s lead cinematographer and producer, the Senior Manager of Video Production will help concept, design and execute video productions around the globe that elevate the Novartis brand story to global audiences. You will collaborate closely with company leadership and stakeholders to bring to life creative concepts that transcend typical corporate communications, amplify our brand story and illuminate our human impact on a global scale.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Spearhead production of captivating and emotionally resonant videos.

  • Serve as primary cinematographer and/or producer for high-profile video content across Corporate Affairs.

  • Work with writers, directors, freelancers, and business partners to bring to life visionary storytelling projects and campaigns to reach diverse, global audiences.

  • Empower the creative community across Novartis by way of building lasting partnerships with top-notch external production houses and freelancers.

  • Manage all in-house video equipment. Prepare, acquire, maintain, organize, and troubleshoot gear as needed.

  • Continually grow our network of external production support by way of building relationships with, hiring and managing expert gaffers, DPs, assistants, producers, directors, drone pilots, colorists, sound engineers, etc.

  • Plan and produce video productions across the globe in a variety of environments; from rural locations with minimal infrastructure to the biggest urban centers on the planet.

  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including clients, creative team members, and external vendors, to execute projects successfully

  • Support the integration of AI-driven techniques and solutions to optimize concepting, and pre-production materials.

  • Continually seek to make video storytelling across the Corporate Affairs function more cost-effective, engaging, and effective at supporting underlying business goals.

Essential Requirements:

  • Extensive years of freelance or agency experience and/or extensive portfolio of high-end cinematography work (more important than years of experience).

  • Academic achievements are a plus. Greater value will be placed on skill, breadth and depth of portfolio, creative achievements in video editing, documentary storytelling, and experience that demonstrates creative prowess.

  • Expert knowledge of how to create commercial-grade, cinematic images, with an appetite to take on duties beyond those outlined in this description in order to fill gaps on production.

  • Well-travelled; ability to adapt to and show respect for other cultures. Ability to endure the discomforts of travelling to remote locations with minimal infrastrucure and willingness to work long/irregular hours when necessary for production (travel, weekends, sunrise, sunset, etc).

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, problem solving skills, good team player; committed to high-quality output and positive atmosphere

  • Willingness to live in Switzerland
