Summary

We’re a team of dedicated and smart people united by a drive to achieve together. You will be responsible for the accounting and reporting of Novartis Holdings (incl. Novartis AG), Foundations and other special entities - provides direction for the respective General Ledger (R2R) process teams within the FRA Ops Switzerland and thereafter leading the primary liaison to the other FRA processes, respective Country CFO, CFOs, BPA (Business Planning & Analysis, having the oversight of all services provided from FRA (including Novartis Corporate Centers). You will ensure accurate reporting of financial information to stakeholders in accordance with IFRS, statutory and Novartis standards & policies. This key leadership role has the critical responsibility of managing the team providing GL services to their respective entities and drive improvements and being accountable for superior customer service. This role, together with the support of the Process Lead R2R, is closely partnering with other Services Leads, such as R2P (Record to Pay) and FC&C (Financial Control & Compliance).

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Is responsible for the accurate and compliant period-end closing and reporting (monthly IFRS reporting and yearly Statutory reporting according Swiss law) in high quality and on-time
  • Leads and manages balance sheet account reconciliations of allocated accounts and ensures timely resolution action items identified
  • Ensures compliance with Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM), Novartis Financial Controls Manual (NFCM) and regulatory requirements and ensures all processes, policies and procedures are clearly defined and fully documented
  • Pro-actively engages in the upcoming LDC (SAP4Hana) implementation and any other relevant projects  
  • Leads collaboration with and communication to key stakeholders, including senior business partners or auditors Provides accounting guidance and expertise to the business
  • Identifies and drives improvements to sustain a highly effective and efficient accounting and reporting process
  • Leads a diverse team of 3-5 direct, and 4 indirect reports at the NOCC Prague, and is actively engaged in their development
  • Role models an inclusive and collaborative leadership style, driving business understanding and functional expertise

What you'll bring to the role:

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • University level degree in Business Administration/Economics/Finance or Chartered Accountant, Swiss Certified Public Accountant or Swiss Chartered Expert in Financial and Managerial Accounting and Reporting preferred
  • Extensive experience of IFRS accounting, reporting, compliance, technical accounting and SAP, previous experience in Swiss statutory auditing or consultancy is a plus
  • Profound people, communication and presentation skills, sound experience in collaborating in cross-functional teams
  • Organisation savy and adept in building relationships of all levels of our organisation
  • Previous experience of delivery of impactful process & systems improvement. 
  • English (written and spoken) German is beneficial (written and spoken)
