Summary

The Department of Immunology at the Novartis Biomedical Research in Basel is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic recent master graduate with a strong desire to pursue research in the field of immunology in support of an internal pre-clinical research project.

About the Role

The lab is part of a unit focusing on cells of the innate immune system and their signaling pathways and aims to increase the understanding of disease biology to translate the newly gained knowledge into novel medicines. We work in close collaborations with other labs in and outside of BR and are equipped with state-of-the-art cellular and molecular technologies. Currently, we focus on a rare autoimmune rheumatic disease called Systemic Sclerosis. It is a complex immune-mediated disease of the connective tissue caused by autoimmune responses, vasculopathy and tissue fibrosis with very limited understanding of disease pathology, and therefore inadequate treatment options. With our longstanding experience in innate immunology, we aim to identify novel disease modifying genes and pathways for the development of innovative treatment candidates.
