About the role:

The Medical Education Manager for Breast Cancer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing educational programs that enhance the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals specializing in breast cancer. This role involves close collaboration with key stakeholders in the oncology community to ensure the dissemination of cutting-edge information and best practices in breast cancer care.
This role will work directly with the breast cancer team and reports to the medical director of oncology.

About the Role

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and manage high-impact educational programs focused on breast cancer, including workshops, conferences, webinars, and digital learning solutions.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, researchers, and other breast cancer experts to create accurate, relevant, and high-quality educational content.
  • Ensure all educational materials are compliant with regulatory standards and aligned with the latest clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices.
  • Organize and manage logistics for educational events, such as venue selection, scheduling, participant registration, and on-site coordination.
  • Assess the effectiveness of educational initiatives through data collection and analysis, using feedback to refine and improve program offerings.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements and trends in breast cancer research and treatment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and academic institutions specializing in oncology.
  • Oversee budgeting and financial management for educational initiatives, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
  • Represent Novartis Canada at external medical education forums and conferences.
  • Ensure medical enquiries are responded to in a high quality, timely manner, and in accordance with applicable standards; establish standard response documents as appropriate, for frequently asked questions.
  • Provide medical/scientific input into the development and execution of clinical trial or clinical research related activities, including initiation and oversight of clinical studies / clinical research within the respective therapeutic area.
  • Support country strategy for Non Interventional Studies/Investigator Initiated Trial activities.
  • Coordinate review and approval of medical materials and locally developed promotional materials; ensure medical materials provided from global or region for stakeholder engagement and events are tailored to local needs, and reviewed/approved per local/P3 guidelines.
  • Ensure medical insights are provided to cross functional groups, including, but not restricted to: Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory affairs, Market Access, QA, Commercial teams, Brand team and others.
  • Responsible for risk identification and assessment, mitigation planning as well as implementation and monitoring of appropriate internal controls within the area of responsibilities.
  • Reporting of technical complaints / adverse events / special case scenarios related to Novartis products within 24 hours of receipt -Distribution of marketing samples (where applicable)

What you'll bring to the role:

Essential:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Medicine, Nursing, Oncology, Education, Public Health); an advanced degree is preferred and/or pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical education, project management or medical affairs.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with medical professionals.
  • Proficiency in utilizing educational technologies and digital platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and quality in medical education.
  • Experience with data analytics to evaluate program success and inform improvements.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Canadian accreditation processes and regulatory standards in medical education.
  • Bilingual English and French is an asset
