Immune diseases and conditions affect millions of people worldwide. We are seeking to hire a Research Scientist to join our Immunology group, focusing on Innate Immunity and Inflammatory diseases and to help change patient's lives. Your key responsibilities will be working on the identification and validation of molecular targets that are key players in disease mechanisms.

About the Role

You will perform experiments, demonstrating proficiency with a broad range of scientific/biological techniques. You will be expected to execute experiments independently and deliver high‐quality data and analyze data independently and to interpret data with colleagues and/or project teams in the context of the investigated biology.
 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: Cell biology, immunology, biochemistry and molecular biology. Proficiency in FACS analysis is an important requirement. Development of cellular assays including cell lines and primary cells. Flexibility to run assays for profiling compounds as well as for exploratory activities.

You will experiment with animal and human samples to determine the effect of new putative drug entities utilizing in-vivo, in-vitro and ex-vivo models on cells and tissues. You will be Scientifically Curious and eager to learn new biology and technologies and be a strong team player.

Major Accountabilities

  • Designs and performs experiments to characterize novel drug candidates for various in vitro and ex vivo assays (e.g. cellular profiling assays, transfections, ELISA, qPCR, Western blotting and FACS)
  • Provides data analysis to interpret own experiments.
  • Contributes to the generation of hypotheses to test, based on literature and/or previous experimental data with some input from senior lab members/manager.
  • Designs and executes the next set of experiments and troubleshoots issues with some input from senior lab members/manager.
  • Performs organized experiment record tracking according to the data quality requirements.
  • Actively contributes to drug discovery and exploratory projects aiming at discovering new ways to modulate the immune system for the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
  • Works collaboratively as an integral part of cross-functional project teams and is an active member of lab and project teams. Presents data at lab meetings and project team meetings.
  • Independently searches for information in scientific and technical literature, to optimize assays and establish new technologies.

Work Experience

  • BSc or MSc degree in Biology or a related scientific discipline or completed apprenticeship as biology laboratory technician.
  • Working proficiency in English.
  • Several years of experience as a laboratory technician. Good knowledge of standard molecular and cell biology techniques (cell lines and primary cells): E.g. FACS, multicolor fluorescence microscopy / high-content imaging, transfection, qPCR, CRISPR/Cas9 transfections, western blot, ELISA, cloning, etc.
  • Experience in establishing and running cellular profiling assay to support ongoing drug discovery projects.
  • Isolation, processing and characterization of primary rodent and human cells for translational research activities.
  • Strong interest in working in a creative environment where you demonstrate proactiveness, a flexible attitude and scientific curiosity.
