Summary

Location: Rotkreuz, Switzerland #LI-Hybrid

Purpose of the role:
You will lead a team responsible for driving the Medical Affairs strategy and tactics in line with Global strategy and local needs of the relevant therapeutic areas for the Priority Brands. You lead your team hands on to ensure close cross-functional collaboration, to provide proactive, meaningful & impactful strategic and operational input to other relevant functions like Commercial, Value & Access and others.
You will manage Therapeutic Area (TA) associates locally to drive Novartis message delivery to key influencers and stakeholders and you will guide your team towards proactive workplans, efficient and structured stakeholder mapping & engagement. You set clear expectations, metrics and follow through with your team on objectives and coaching & individual development.

This role is reporting directly into the Head Medical Affairs & CSO, Rotkreuz.

About the Role

Major Accountabilities:

  • Drive the preparation and execution of the Medical Affairs workplan for pre-launch and marketed products in the Priority Asset Group in close alignment with the Global/Regional Medical strategies & local Country Pharma Organization (CPO) needs.
  • Strategically prepare and support the development, launch and commercialization of drug products through education of Medical Experts/ Key Stakeholders, and scientific exchanges seeking external insight to shape Novartis commercial and development programs.
  • Lead, coach, advocate for and develop a team of Medical associates.
  • Work cross-functionally with other Novartis departments (mainly Marketing, Sales and Value & Access) to develop aligned business plans in pre and post product launch phases in accordance to local health authority guidelines. Co-Lead and Co-Own relevant business.
  • Seen as credible medical and scientific expert by internal and external customers and create scientific partnerships forward with healthcare professionals and decision makers to build advocacy.
  • Assign tasks and TA-specific work to Medical Managers Priority Brands in an agile way which still ensures deep scientific expertise.
  • Coordinate and manage the team to consistently deliver on priorities, focusing on people development.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Degree: Medical Doctor, PharmD or PhD in life sciences
  • Full professional proficiency in German and English, French is considered an advantage
  • 5+ years of experience in Medical Affairs in a pharmaceutical environment
  • Experience with Cardiovascular and Renal disease area preferred
  • Previous direct leadership and strong change management experience
  • In-depth understanding of the Swiss Pharma market including key dynamics, competitors, country regulatory and market environments
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills as well as analytical skills
