About the Role

Location: Mengeš #LI-Hybrid

Manufacturing, Science, and Technology (MS&T) team in Biopharmaceuticals Mengeš ensures that the drug manufacturing processes are well-designed, robust, and capable of consistently producing high-quality products.

Our activities in MS&T Laboratory are executed under non-GMP (development practices). We support biological Drug Substance (DS) manufacturing – protein bioterapeutics and viral vectors.

Main activities are:

• Process development: designing and optimizing the manufacturing processes.
• Scale-up and process transfer.
• Process validation: Conducting studies to demonstrate that the manufacturing processes consistently produce products of the desired quality.
• Troubleshooting and continuous improvement of biotechnological process.

As a MS&T Scientist - senior USP
you will design, perform, interpret, report and implement scientific experiments to directly support upstream processes of biotherapeutics.


Key Responsibilities:
• Planning, execution and interpretation of USP experiments in laboratory at small-scale for identification of manufacturing process in a scope of development studies and process characterization.
• Use of basic statistical tools for planning and interpretation of scientific experiments (Design of Experiments, DOE, ANOVA, linear regression).
• Scale-down model qualification of different lab-scale bioreactors.
• Troubleshooting of manufacturing bioprocess.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement to mammalian bioprocesses through new technologies, new equipment or approaches.
• Cross-collaboration through different divisions (development/ procurement/ manufacturing/ engineering)
• Support team resource planning, project management and prioritization decisions.

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements:
• MSc degree in Life Sciences field with experience related to manufacturing or process development and experience in biotech industry.
• Experience in Upstream processes in manufacturing/ manufacturing science and technology/technical development/academy.
• Self-directed, self-motivated and good collaboration skills.
• Cross functional collaboration.

Desirable Requirements:
• PhD in Life Sciences is desired.
• Working understanding of regulatory requirements and GMP standards.
• Knowledge of analytical methods for characterization of biological molecules.
• Experience with the use of statistical data analysis, DOE design.
